Cups and Party-ware Information

Are your cups dishwasher safe?

Clear Plastic, Stadium and Shatterproof cups are residential top rack only dishwasher safe. However, due to variables between inks, ink additives, and plastics beyond our control the imprint is not guaranteed to stay on. Although these two cups can be re-used all cups are sold as disposable.

Are your cups recyclable?

All of Petal Printing’s cups are recyclable. The recycle code is located on the bottom of the product.

How many cups should I order for my event?

If you are having a cocktail party, 2-3 cups per guest are recommended. If you are having a buffet with cocktails included before and during, we would suggest 4-5 cups per guest.

How do I know which size cup to order?

The ounce size of the cup is based on when the cup is full of liquid with no ice. For example, if you are serving 12 oz soft drinks, you would want to order a 16 oz cup or larger as to accommodate the amount of ice you will use. Beer often is best served in a 16 oz cup as well. Many bartenders prefer to use a 9 oz cup when pouring wine and mixed drinks, however, a 10 or 12 oz cup might accommodate soda as well.

How many letters or characters may I have on my cup, koozie, napkin or coaster?

There is not a limit on the amount of characters or letters you may have per line. The space provided per line is limited to 3 inches. Please remember that the more characters or letters, the smaller your text will appear. You may have up to 3 lines of copy and art. If you would like more than three lines, please contact us at customerservice@petalprinting.com or 817.888.5555 for quotes and assistance.

May I use more than one ink color on my cup, koozie, napkin or coaster?

Yes, you can use a second print color on cups, koozies, napkins and coasters. Second print color fees apply. However, two-color customer provided art/logos must meet registration standards for two color printing. We reserve the right to refuse two-color printing on items that do not meet registration standards.

May I print on the both sides of an item?

Yes, two-sided printing is available on cups and koozies only and is provided at no additional fee provided that the ink color remains the same. If a second ink color is desired, then second print color fees apply. The preview tool will only previews a single side. Please indicate in the Special Instructions box what will be printed on the backside. Please contact us at customerservice@petalprinting.com or 817.888.5555 for assistance.

What can I print in metallic and pearl ink colors?

Only napkins and coasters may be printed in metallic ink colors. Pearl inks may only be printed on white napkins only. Cups and koozies may not be printed with metallic or pearl inks.

Can I order items without printing?

Yes. Cups, Koozies, Napkins and Coasters are available for sale without customized printing. Please contact us at customerservice@petalprinting.com or 817.888.5555 for quotes and assistance.

Jewelry Information

Is all of your silver jewelry sterling?

All of our silver jewelry is genuine .925 sterling silver unless otherwise stated.

What is your Goldtone jewelry?

Our Goldtone jewelry is actually Tumbaga. It is an alloy composed of gold and copper. It has a lower melting point than gold or copper alone, but maintains malleability after being pounded. The copper is dissolved off the surface leaving a shiny layer of nearly pure gold on top and a harder more durable copper-gold underneath. It can darken over time, much like sterling silver. Your Tumbaga gold jewelry can be polished or dipped in jewelry cleaner to restore its original luster. Unlike gold plated jewelry, it will not chip or fade over time.

Embroidery Information

What is the best way to care for my monogrammed items that are washable?

We recommend only washing monogrammed items that can be washed in cold water. This will help to ensure there is no color run from the thread, long color lasting, and wear of the product.

Monograms and Initial Etiquette

How should my initials look on my monogram?

Same Size Monogram-If you are choosing a monogram style where all of the initials in the monogram are the same size, then your monogram should read as:

EJS
(Elizabeth Jane Smith - single female or unmarried or married male)

EBS
(Elizabeth Brown Smith - married female should use her maiden name as middle initial)

Larger Center Monogram-If you are choosing a monogram style with a larger center initial, then your monogram should read as:

ESJ
(Elizabeth Jane Smith-single female or unmarried or married male)

ESB
(Elizabeth Brown Smith-married female should use her maiden name as middle initial)

Combination Monogram-If you are choosing to combine both the female and male initials, the female’s name typically comes first and your monogram should read as:

ESD
(Elizabeth and David Smith)

How should I personalize something for a couple?

Using Monograms- The female’s name typically comes first.

ESD

Elizabeth S David
E & D

Using Titles- When using titles the husband’s title always comes first.

Mr. and Mrs. David Smith
Doctor and Mrs. David Smith
Judge and Mrs. David Smith

Forgoing Titles- When not using titles the female’s name appears first whether married or unmarried.

Elizabeth and David Smith
Elizabeth and David

How do I personalize something for a family?

Last Name- The easiest way is to list the family’s last name with no apostrophe.

The Smith Family
The Smiths

Listing Individual Names- When listing individual names the father’s name should come first, then the wife’s name, then the children listed from oldest to youngest.

David, Elizabeth, Tim, Molly and Peter
(you may also use "&” instead of "and”)

If the parent’s names are separated from the children’s names, then the wife’s name should appear before the husband’s name on the first line. This is usually centered.

Elizabeth and David
Tim, Molly and Peter

How do I make a last name plural?

Most names will simply be made plural by adding an "s”. NEVER add an (‘) to form a plural last name, only to show ownership.

The Smiths
(not The Smith’s)

You may add an apostrophe (‘) in to the last name to show ownership as in the examples below:

The Smith’s
Summer Hideaway

Names that end in "ch”, "sh”, "s”, "x” and "z” are made plural by adding an "es”.

The Foxes
The Fredrickses
The Bolzes

We would suggest instead of adding the "es” you would say:

The Fox Family
The Fredricks Family
The Bolz Family

How do I make my text look good?

The size of text on an item is determined by the number of characters on each line. If you want your text to appear larger you should use more lines and fewer characters on each line.

The
Smith
Family

Entering all your characters on one line will cause them to be smaller and harder to read.

The Smith Family
